• Toy Story 4 Introduces Homemade Toy: Forky!
by Alex Firer on November 12, 2018 at 10:08 pm

We don't know what Toy Story 4 has in store. But we do know one thing: it's got a fork that's come to life! And his name... is Forky! Aw, heck yeah! The trailer, we kind of sort of reminds me of that incredible Nintendo 64 Super Smash Bros commercial from way back when, shows the toys spinning joyfully in a circle only to pause on a little flimsily made plastic fork with a face drawn on that shouts that it does not belong! It's not a toy! The post Toy Story 4 Introduces Homemade Toy: Forky! appeared first on What's Trending. […]

  • RIP Stan Lee, Comic Book Legend
by Alex Firer on November 12, 2018 at 8:28 pm

How can you even start an obituary of Stan Lee? The man influenced pop culture more than almost any creator in American history. Maybe the Beatles can claim as much to his throne, but then, given the longevity and influence of Stan Lee's most prominent co-creations: Thor, Iron Man, The Hulk, Daredevil, Spider-Man, The X-Men, Ant-Man, Groot, Black Panther, Dr. Strange, The Fantastic Four, Nick Fury and so so many others, it's hard to find someone who redefined fantasy and adventure, along with just how comic books are marketed, sold and written, as much as the man born Stanley Lieber has in his life. by Alex Firer on November 9, 2018 at 11:52 pm

The guys in the Chili's Baby Back Ribs video are... amazing. If you haven't watched it check it out above. I never really thought about who sang the Baby Back Ribs song, in my mind it just rose fully made from the ether. But no, the familiar sounds of Chili's Baby Back Ribs are created by the band "Take 6" and specifically, the familiar bass "I Want My Baby Back" line is sung by singer Alvin Chea. The website "Flovoice" has a run down of some of his other greatest hits, including his work with McDonald's, Allstate, Michael Jackson, Glee, and Family Guy. • White Instagram Models Pretending To Be Black, Is Weird Trend
by Alex Firer on November 9, 2018 at 10:10 pm

The conversation around blackface often involves clueless or racist (or incredibly both?) white people who paint their faces black like Al Jolson in "The Jazz Singer", and proceed to put on an incredibly offensive and garbage costume. The purposes of the costume is never to trick anyone into thinking you're black, or to try to appropriate looks to try to look more beautiful. That's what makes the "Blackface Thots" trend so strange -- it shows white women absolutely going all out to try to look like beautiful black women for the purposes of Instagram. And the examples of this are beyond plentiful. The post White Instagram Models Pretending To Be Black, Is Weird Trend appeared first on What's Trending. […]
